Johannes Schindelin 46171c9216 Fix git log --graph -u hangs (#5193) ...

This fixes https://github.com/git-for-windows/git/issues/5185 by
backporting https://github.com/gitgitgadget/git/pull/1806 (which, sadly,
seems not to have made it into Git v2.47.0).
