Describe the bug
A clear and concise description of what the bug is.
Please confirm that this problem is VSCodium-specific
Please confirm that the issue/resolution isn't already documented
vscode runs without issues on my system under wayland, but vscodium fails
here is the same attempt without the arguments
@FlorianSchwarzl commented on GitHub:
That's because when an instance of code is already open, it will just use the settings of the first window. so if you start one in X and then in Wayland, both will be X and if you start one in Wayland and then one in X, both will be Wayland.
Same bug here but only on 1 out of 2 systems
I've tried downgrading till about 1.83 and the bug still occurs!
Working system:
Arch Linux
KDE Plasma 6.0RC2
Wayland
Normal kernel
Acer Nitro 5
Dedicated Nvidia GPU with proprietary driver
Non-working system:
Arch Linux
KDE Plasma 6.0RC2
Wayland
Zen Kernel (Also doesn't work with the normal kernel)
Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga Gen 8
Integrated Graphics on Intel Evo
Verbose output from
codium:Log(s) from ~/.config/VSCodium/logs
There is only the main.log file because it segfaulted before it was able to create more.
main.log
journalctloutputCoredump
Very basic analysis with gdb
I can't get debug symbols to work and don't have any experience with debugging x86 systems and non C code...
@paulcarroty commented on GitHub:
Works for me with flags
--enable-features=UseOzonePlatform --ozone-platform=wayland --enable-wayland-ime --enable-features=WaylandWindowDecorationsand"window.titleBarStyle": "native".@aspizu commented on GitHub:
Can reproduce on Cachy OS (Arch Linux) (Vscodium is vscodium-bin from AUR)
@floesche commented on GitHub:
I see a similar issue as @oniGino. If I run vscodium with the flags @paulcarroty uses (and option
"window.titleBarStyle": "native"set), I see this. The vscodium window briefly appears before disappearing again.@aspizu commented on GitHub:
If vscodium is started without wayland, then vscodium is started with wayland it will work. Then the xorg window can be closed and it will continue to work.
@pojntfx commented on GitHub:
Just re-tested this on Fedora 40, GNOME 46, Wayland with flags
--enable-features=UseOzonePlatform --ozone-platform=wayland --enable-wayland-ime --enable-features=WaylandWindowDecorations- works perfectly!@oniGino commented on GitHub:
Not my issue, code was completly closed in testing here.
This bug persists for me in codium
@FlorianSchwarzl commented on GitHub:
I was replying to another user who claimed that it now works when opening the first window in X and the second in wayland and then closing the first one, see quoted text at the beginning!
It crashes for me when I start codium with the params above (with no other codium window open)!
And BTW, Wayland woks with codium-electron
